Guido Van Rossum, born on January 31, 1956, graduated with a mathematics and computer science degree from the University of Amsterdam and became a programmer. At the National Research Initiatives, he worked full-time developing python. Rossum was awarded the Free Software Foundation Award, and he wrote the book the Internet Programming with Python along with others. Rossum named the python after the British sketch-comedy series, Monty Python's Flying Circus.
